hey guys,
I know this sounds kinda weird but I found what I believe to be a 49 plymouth woodie rear bumper in the woods a while back and that has sparked me to learn as much as I can about them!

I guess my first question is are there really only 26 49's out there???

I read that somewhere, doesn't seem like it would be tru to me because already I have seen a few on here...

and 2nd, did the 3 piece bumper that comes on a woodie come on anything else?

thanks in advance for any and all info you guys decide to drop my way:)

thanks,
delton.

Hi:
Last I heard there were only 28 1949 Plymouths registered, but there are some others unregistered and some being rebuilt.

Im not sure how many there are total, but they are pretty rare.

Chyslers Desotos and Dodges in '49 had three piece drop down bumpers (I think), but only 1949 Plymouths have the three piece ribbed bumpers.

The drop down bumpers are very hard to find, and If you want to sell it, there is probably a few people here who would be interested in buying it. Do you have any pictures of it?

no I havent had a chance to get pics of it yet.

so those 3 piece ribbed did only come on the woodies??

wow that is pretty cool.

I hate that they are so rare because they are a great looking bumper!!!

I would love to run one on something for a kustom application but with it being that rare I don't have the heart to do so.

I think about the guy building his dream car and needing that bumper and I have it on a 53 chevy truck...

that would be crappy of me to be as such.

so that said before I go through all the trouble to get this bumper and pay for it to boot.
(he wants a bit more than I wanted to pay and it is deep in the woods and the truck has to be dug out to get it jacked up to get the bumper off)

I want to make sure i am not going to be upside down in this thing.

so what is one in restorable condition?

it is not mint and will definately need to see a good chrome guy.

thanks again!!!

delton.

It all depends on the condition. The 3 bumper sections alone would sell for at least 2 or 3 hundred dollars on EBay if they just need rechroming.

Could be worth over $1000 if all the parts are there and can be restored. Even more if its in good shape. Get the pans in front of the bumper if they are repairable. They are worth at least $150.
